Overview

Endosomal transmembrane epsin interactor 2 (ENTREP2) is a human protein encoded by the gene ENTREP2 (also known as FAM189A1, KIAA0574, and TMEM228). It is an integral membrane protein predicted to localize to endosomal membranes, but its precise molecular function remains uncharacterized. ENTREP2 is expressed in a variety of tissues but lacks experimentally validated roles in biological processes or molecular functions in any organism studied to date. Some genetic associations connect ENTREP2 to certain syndromes, such as lung disease or chromosome breakage syndromes, but causative roles are not established and the underlying mechanisms remain to be determined. ENTREP2 is not currently considered a therapeutic target, receptor, or member of a major druggable family according to existing sources.
