Endosome-lysosome associated apoptosis and autophagy regulator family member 2 (ELAPOR2)

ELAPOR2
Molecular classification
Protein-coding gene, Regulatory protein, Likely a membrane-associated protein (localized to endosomes/lysosomes and plasma membrane)

Overview

ELAPOR2 (Endosome-lysosome associated apoptosis and autophagy regulator family member 2) is a protein-coding gene that encodes a regulatory protein implicated in the modulation of the BMP signaling pathway. It is predicted to localize to the plasma membrane and endosomal/lysosomal compartments. ELAPOR2 plays a role in regulating apoptosis and autophagy, contributing positively to epidermis development and negatively to nervous system development. Diseases associated with dysfunction or aberrant expression of ELAPOR2 include pancreatic acinar cell adenocarcinoma. There is currently limited evidence for direct drug interactions or its use as a biomarker or therapeutic target in clinical practice.
