Overview

Endothelial cell membranes form the inner lining of all blood vessels and lymphatic vessels. These cells regulate vascular permeability, blood flow, blood vessel tone, coagulation, inflammation, and angiogenesis. Dysfunction of endothelial cells is implicated in a wide range of pathologies, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, and sepsis.
