Target intelligence / Profile preview
The endothelial dysfunction pathway refers to a series of molecular and cellular events that impair the normal function of the endothelium, the thin layer of cells lining blood vessels. This dysfunction is central to the development and progression of various cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis, hypertension, and coronary artery disease. It is characterized by an imbalance between vasodilating and vasoconstricting substances produced by (or acting on) endothelial cells, increased oxidative stress, inflammation, reduced nitric oxide (NO) bioavailability, and altered signaling pathways.
