Overview

Endothelin converting enzyme like 1 pseudogene 2 (ECEL1P2) is a human pseudogene and does not encode a functional protein product. It is an unprocessed pseudogene related to the ECEL1 gene, which encodes an endopeptidase in the M13 family, but ECEL1P2 itself is not known to have any biological or clinical function, nor is it considered a therapeutic target. ECEL1P2 is also known as ECEL2, but this designation may lead to confusion with active family members. As a pseudogene, ECEL1P2 does not participate in signal transduction, enzymatic activity, or other canonical biological roles and is not linked to disease mechanisms, biomarkers, or druggability.
