Endothelin receptor type B (ET-B) is a G protein-coupled receptor that binds to endothelins 1, 2, and 3. It is involved in various physiological processes, including vascular tone regulation, neural crest cell migration, and melanocyte development. Its dysregulation is implicated in diseases such as Hirschsprung disease, Waardenburg syndrome, and cancer. Activation leads to diverse cellular responses such as vasodilation or vasoconstriction.
Activation of G proteins leading to phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system activation, resulting in vasodilation or vasoconstriction depending on cell context. Antagonists block the receptor, preventing endothelin binding and downstream signaling.
