Target intelligence / Profile preview
Entry inhibitors are a class of antiviral drugs that prevent viruses, most notably HIV, from entering host cells. They achieve this by interfering with the binding, fusion, or entry processes required for viral infection. By blocking these early steps in the viral life cycle, entry inhibitors help slow disease progression and are especially valuable in combination antiretroviral therapy. They target various stages of the virus-cell entry process, including pre-attachment, post-attachment, co-receptor binding, and membrane fusion.
