Overview

The eosinophil activation pathway encompasses the molecular and cellular processes that lead to the activation of eosinophils, a type of granulocytic white blood cell involved in immune responses, particularly in allergic inflammation, parasitic infections, and certain autoimmune diseases. Eosinophil activation is characterized by changes in cell surface markers, degranulation (release of cytotoxic granule proteins), production of lipid mediators and cytokines, increased adhesion to endothelium, chemotaxis (migration), and enhanced survival.
