Target intelligence / Profile preview
Epidermal growth factor-like protein 6 (EGFL6) is a secreted protein belonging to the EGF repeat superfamily, characterized by four complete EGF-like repeats, an RGD integrin-binding motif, and a MAM adhesion domain[1][2][3]. It is expressed during early development and in certain tumors, where it promotes cell proliferation, migration, angiogenesis, and tissue regeneration. EGFL6 has been implicated in tumor progression and metastasis in multiple cancer types. Its molecular activities are mediated via modulating integrin interaction and stimulating intracellular pathways such as PI3K/AKT, MAPK/ERK, and Wnt/β-catenin[1][2][3]. EGFL6 is regarded as an emerging therapeutic target and biomarker for angiogenesis-driven diseases and cancer.
Antibody or inhibitor binding to EGFL6 may block integrin interaction, inhibit angiogenesis, and suppress tumor growth and metastasis. Antagonism of EGFL6's effects on the PI3K/AKT, MAPK/ERK, and Wnt/β-catenin pathways.
