Epidermal growth factor-like protein 7 (EGFL7) is a secreted protein primarily involved in the regulation of blood vessel formation, including angiogenesis and vasculogenesis, as well as neurogenesis. It plays significant roles in both physiological and pathological processes, notably tumor angiogenesis in various human cancers. EGFL7 modulates signaling pathways relevant to vascular biology, including suppressing NF-κB activation and enhancing EGF receptor-AKT signaling pathway. Its specific upregulation during pathological neovascularization makes it an attractive target for antiangiogenic therapies.
