Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (Mutated) (EGFR (mutated))

Target
EGFR (mutated)
Molecular classification
Receptor tyrosine kinase, Transmembrane receptor
01

Overview

The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is a transmembrane protein and a member of the ErbB family of receptor tyrosine kinases. Mutations or overexpression of EGFR are common drivers in various cancers, particularly non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Key mutations include exon 19 deletions, exon 21 L858R point mutation, T790M resistance mutation in exon 20, and S768I/L861Q/G719X mutations. Targeting mutated forms of EGFR has become standard care for certain cancers with therapies like osimertinib, afatinib, and amivantamab-vmjw.
