01

Overview

EDDM3DP (Epididymal protein 3D, pseudogene) is a human genomic sequence classified as a pseudogene.[1] Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are non-functional; they often arise from duplication or retrotransposition but accumulate mutations that prevent normal expression or protein-coding function.[1] EDDM3DP is related by sequence similarity to the family of epididymal proteins (EDDM3A, EDDM3B) which may be involved in sperm maturation, but EDDM3DP itself is not expressed as a functional protein and does not have a physiological or pathological role in humans.[1] There are no documented drugs, biomarkers, or safety liabilities associated with this locus.

02

Biological functions

None; as a pseudogene, EDDM3DP does not perform a biological function in humans
03

Disease associations

None directly attributed; not known to be involved in disease as a pseudogene
