Epididymal secretory protein E3-alpha (EDDM3A) is a protein encoded by the EDDM3A gene, and is predominantly secreted by epithelial cells lining the epididymal duct in the male reproductive tract[1][5][10]. It is thought to play a role in sperm maturation by contributing new glycoproteins to the sperm membrane as part of the post-testicular modification process necessary for sperm motility and fertility[1][3][10]. This protein is not classified as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, and does not currently have documented pharmacological interactors or recognized disease targeting roles. Main aliases include FAM12A, HE3A, HE3-ALPHA, and several sperm-related synonyms[1][3][5][10].
