The epoprostenol receptor, also known as the prostacyclin receptor or IP receptor, is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that mediates the effects of prostacyclin (PGI₂), also called epoprostenol. This receptor plays a critical role in vascular homeostasis by promoting vasodilation and inhibiting platelet aggregation.
Agonism of the IP receptor, leading to increased cAMP production and downstream signaling events, resulting in vasodilation and inhibition of platelet aggregation.
