Overview

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) envelope glycoprotein gH is a critical component of the viral entry machinery. It forms a heterodimeric complex with glycoprotein L (gL), and together, they are essential for mediating the fusion of the viral envelope with host cell membranes, enabling EBV to enter target cells. This process is fundamental for infection of both B lymphocytes and epithelial cells.
