Nucleoside transporters are membrane proteins responsible for the transport of nucleosides and nucleobases across cell membranes. They are crucial for nucleotide salvage, cellular metabolism, and the pharmacokinetics of many drugs. Two main classes exist: equilibrative (ENTs) that facilitate passive transport, and concentrative (CNTs) that mediate active, sodium/proton-coupled uptake.
