ERC1 antisense RNA 1 (ERC1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed in the antisense orientation relative to the ERC1 gene, which encodes a member of the RIM-binding protein family involved in neurotransmitter release. ERC1-AS1, like other antisense lncRNAs, likely regulates the expression or stability of the ERC1 mRNA or other genes by mechanisms such as transcript hybridization or recruitment of regulatory proteins.
