Overview

ERC2 antisense RNA 1 (ERC2-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA gene expressed from the antisense strand overlapping the ERC2 locus[5][7]. This RNA is categorized as an antisense lncRNA, a class of transcripts that have diverse roles in gene expression regulation, commonly by interacting with chromatin modifiers or by base-pairing with sense transcripts to affect their stability, translation, or epigenetic state[1][2][10]. While many antisense lncRNAs have been implicated in development, cancer, and other diseases through gene regulation, there is currently no published functional or disease association specific to ERC2-AS1, and it is not reported as a known drug or therapeutic target[5][7]. If later structured extraction is needed, note that ERC2-AS1 fits within the class of antisense long non-coding RNAs, and its biological and therapeutic characteristics should be inferred conservatively in the absence of direct functional studies.
