Overview

ERC2 intronic transcript 1 (ERC2-IT1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), not a classical protein-coding therapeutic target[2][7]. It has been identified as a putative tumor suppressor gene and forms part of prognostic signatures for neuroblastoma outcomes, with higher expression linked to poorer prognosis. ERC2-IT1 expression is associated with an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment—negatively correlated with dendritic cell and CD8+ T cell abundance and positively with Th2 cells—suggesting it modulates immune cell infiltration and tumor progression. While some database records note possible peptide-coding potential, ERC2-IT1 is predominantly classified as non-coding, with no current evidence of characterized protein function and no established role as a receptor, enzyme, or other canonical therapeutic target[2][7][10]. There are no approved drugs or characterized mechanisms of action or safety concerns directly related to ERC2-IT1.
