ERH pseudogene 2 (ERHP2) is a non-coding pseudogene located on human chromosome 6 (position 6p12.1). It is an altered copy of the functional ERH gene and has lost its ability to encode a protein. Like most pseudogenes, ERHP2 does not produce a functional protein and does not participate in known molecular pathways, biological functions, or diseases as an active molecule. Functional ERH, distinct from ERHP2, encodes a highly conserved nuclear protein involved in mRNA splicing and other RNA-related processes, but ERHP2 itself does not share these attributes. ERH pseudogene 2 is not a protein-coding gene, a receptor, a drug target, or involved in pathological signaling. If the goal is to study or target the Enhancer of rudimentary homolog protein (ERH), use ERH (not ERHP2); ERHP2 should be excluded as a target.
