EPB41L4B, or erythrocyte membrane protein band 4.1 like 4B, is a cytoskeletal protein containing a FERM domain and belongs to the ezrin/radixin/moesin family. It plays roles in the organization of actomyosin structures in epithelial cells, enhances cellular adhesion and migration, and may contribute to wound healing and cytoskeletal reorganization induced by steroid differentiation. The protein is predicted to be localized at the plasma membrane, cytosol, and apical portion of cells. Its activity involves up-regulation of Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor ARHGEF18. Human mutations in EPB41L4B are associated with developmental and epileptic encephalopathy 37, but it is not considered a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or canonical drug target in therapeutic contexts.
