Overview

Erythroid cell proliferation refers to the process by which erythroid progenitor cells undergo repeated cell divisions, expanding their population before differentiating into mature erythrocytes. This process is a critical component of erythropoiesis. Proliferation is highly dependent on extracellular signals such as erythropoietin (Epo) during early stages. Key regulators include Epo, ETO2, and TR4 Nuclear Receptor. Proliferation index can be measured using Ki-67. Abnormal proliferation can be observed in certain myeloid neoplasms.
