Erythroid differentiation regulatory factor 1 (EDRF1) is a protein encoded by the EDRF1 gene located on human chromosome 10. This protein is implicated in the regulation of erythroid cell differentiation, primarily by inhibiting the DNA binding of the erythroid transcription factor GATA-1, which results in modulation of alpha-globin and gamma-globin gene expression. Alternative splicing of the EDRF1 transcript produces multiple protein variants. Although it is considered a putative transcription factor due to its regulatory effects on gene expression during erythropoiesis, there is currently no evidence that EDRF1 is a direct therapeutic target, nor are there known drugs or established biomarkers targeting this molecule[1][2][3][6][7].
