Overview

Estrogen-related receptor alpha pseudogene 2 (ESRRAP2) is a pseudogene and does not code for a functional protein or receptor. While it is related in sequence to the estrogen-related receptor alpha (ESRRA) gene, ESRRAP2 does not have a known role in biological function, pathophysiology, or drug interaction. Its nomenclature and similarity to ESRRA may cause confusion, but only ESRRA encodes a functional protein involved in nuclear receptor activities[1][5]. ESRRAP2 should not be confused with estrogen-related receptor alpha (ESRRA/ERRα), which is a member of the nuclear receptor family with established roles in energy metabolism and various diseases[3][5]. ESRRAP2 itself, however, is not a drug target, biomarker, or functional receptor.
