Overview

ETS transcription factor ELK2A, pseudogene (ELK2AP) is a genomic sequence related to the ETS family of transcription factors, but is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it is not believed to produce a functional protein product[6]. The ETS family itself is well known for its highly conserved DNA-binding ETS domain involved in gene regulation relating to cellular differentiation, proliferation, apoptosis, and cancer. However, pseudogenes like ELK2AP do not contribute to these functions and are not recognized as receptors, enzymes, or clinically actionable targets[1][6]. There is no credible evidence supporting a therapeutic or physiological function specific to ELK2AP. ELK2AP is a non-functional pseudogene and should not be confused with functional ETS transcription factor family members. It is not considered a therapeutic or biological target. The presence of aliases and parental family (e.g., ETS transcription factors) may cause confusion, but ELK2AP specifically refers to the pseudogene[6][2].
