ETS variant transcription factor 1 (ETV1) is a member of the ETS family of transcription factors, which bind to specific DNA sequences and regulate the expression of genes involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration[5]. ETV1 is frequently overexpressed or activated due to chromosomal translocations in several cancer types, notably aggressive prostate cancer, where it drives oncogenic gene programs including cell invasion and metastasis[1]. Its activity is modulated by signaling pathways such as mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and can be inhibited by TGF-β/SMAD pathway proteins, including direct binding with SMAD4, which represses its transcriptional activity[1]. As a transcription factor, ETV1 is not a classical receptor or enzyme, but a nuclear regulatory protein implicated in both normal developmental biology and tumorigenesis[5].
