Overview

GSPT2 (GTP-binding protein GSPT2), also known as eukaryotic peptide chain release factor GTP-binding subunit ERF3B, is a protein that functions primarily as a polypeptide release factor involved in translation termination. It acts as a component of the eRF1-eRF3-GTP ternary complex, which mediates translation termination at stop codons. It may also play additional roles in mRNA stability regulation and cell cycle progression. It is highly expressed in certain cancers.
