Eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 alpha 1 pseudogene 2 (EEF1A1P2) is a pseudogene derived from the parental gene EEF1A1. While EEF1A1 encodes the essential translation elongation factor eEF1A1 involved in protein synthesis, EEF1A1P2 does not encode a functional protein and lacks confirmed biological or clinical function. Most pseudogenes, including EEF1A1P2, do not produce proteins, and no regulatory RNA roles have been established for EEF1A1P2. It is classified as a processed pseudogene, arising mostly by retrotransposition or segmental duplication. It is crucial not to confuse EEF1A1P2 with the functional EEF1A1 gene or its protein product eEF1A1. Pseudogenes like EEF1A1P2 are generally not considered therapeutic targets. There are no established disease associations, drug interactions, or biomarker statuses for EEF1A1P2 itself; these are only relevant to the coding parental gene or its functional isoforms. The parental gene EEF1A1 is widely expressed and implicated in many cell processes and diseases, including cancer, but none of these roles apply to EEF1A1P2.
