Eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 alpha 1 pseudogene 9 (EEF1A1P9) is a processed pseudogene derived from the EEF1A1 gene, a core component of the translation elongation machinery that delivers aminoacyl-tRNAs to the ribosome during protein synthesis[1]. EEF1A1P9 is considered a non-coding RNA (lncRNA) and does not code for a functional protein but may function as a regulatory RNA molecule. It has been identified in multiple diseases, particularly various cancers and neurodevelopmental disorders. In glioma, high EEF1A1P9 expression is associated with a favorable prognosis, suggesting a tumor suppressor-like function[2]. The pseudogene likely participates in competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) networks, modulating gene expression by sponging microRNAs that regulate oncogenic and tumor suppressor transcripts. While EEF1A1P9 is implicated in diverse biological processes—including cell proliferation, migration, apoptosis, and angiogenesis—through indirect regulatory effects, no direct evidence supports a role as a drug target, nor are there reports of drug interactions or associated safety concerns. EEF1A1P9 is thus best classified as a molecular biomarker and a member of the pseudogene/lncRNA family rather than a conventional therapeutic target[1][2].
