Eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 beta 2 pseudogene 3 (EEF1B2P3) is a processed pseudogene derived from the coding gene EEF1B2, which encodes a component of the eukaryotic translation elongation factor-1 complex essential for protein biosynthesis[1][5][6]. EEF1B2P3 itself does not encode a functional protein but may, like other pseudogenes, play a regulatory role in the cell, particularly at the RNA level[1]. Its individual function is not well-characterized: it has been detected in cancer cell lines (including osteosarcoma and hepatocellular carcinoma) with unknown significance, is upregulated during HIV-1 infection, and is downregulated following treatment with a dihydroorotate dehydrogenase inhibitor in certain leukemia cell lines, but no direct causal mechanism or clinical utility has been established[1]. EEF1B2P3 is considered noncoding and currently lacks confirmed roles in human disease, drug targeting, or biomarker applications[1][5][6]. Its aliases include EEF1B4, hCG1983058, and eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 beta 4 (pseudogene)[5][6].
