Eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 beta 2 pseudogene 4 (EEF1B2P4)

Overview

EEF1B2P4 is a processed pseudogene of the parental gene eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 beta 2 (EEF1B2). The parental gene encodes a translation elongation factor involved in the cytosolic protein synthesis machinery, specifically in regeneration of the active GTP-bound form of eEF1A in cooperation with other elongation factors. However, EEF1B2P4 does not encode a functional protein and is not known to have any biological function, molecular activity, or role in disease. While some pseudogenes of elongation factors can create RNA or peptides that may affect cellular processes, EEF1B2P4 itself has not been shown to do so. It is not recognized as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or disease-associated locus in the literature.
