EEF1DP5 (eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 delta pseudogene 5) is a human **pseudogene** related to the functional EEF1D gene family, which in turn encodes a component of the translation elongation factor complex involved in protein synthesis. However, EEF1DP5 itself does not encode a functional protein and has no established cellular or physiological role[3]. Pseudogenes like EEF1DP5 generally arise from gene duplication or mutation and are usually nonfunctional remnants within the genome.
