Overview

EEF1DP7 is a pseudogene that is derived from the eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 delta (EEF1D) gene. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but non-functional; they do not encode active proteins and are often remnants of gene duplication or retrotransposition events. EEF1DP7 does not participate in canonical protein synthesis, signaling, or disease mechanisms, and has no established function in cell biology or medicine. It is not utilized as a target in drug discovery and has no known relevance for diagnostics, disease association, or therapy. The canonical, functional gene in this family is EEF1D (Elongation factor 1-delta), which is part of the eEF1B complex and plays a role in protein synthesis, cell proliferation, and possibly in oncogenesis[2][4]. However, EEF1DP7 itself is a non-coding, non-functional variant and is not interchangeable with EEF1D.
