Overview

Eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 epsilon-1 (EEF1E1) is a multifunctional, non-enzymatic protein that serves primarily as an auxiliary component of the macromolecular aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase complex in the cytoplasm, facilitating translational elongation during protein synthesis[2][5]. In response to DNA damage, its mouse homolog can translocate to the nucleus and positively modulate ATM/ATR-mediated p53 activation, implicating a role in cellular stress responses and genome stability[2][6]. EEF1E1 has also been linked to human diseases such as Robinow syndrome and has been associated with cancer via its involvement in cell proliferation and the DNA damage response pathway[2]. While it is crucial for protein synthesis machinery function, there are no approved or experimental drugs known to target EEF1E1 directly, nor is it considered a receptor, enzyme, or common therapeutic target[2][6].
