Eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 gamma pseudogene 5 (EEF1GP5) is classified as a pseudogene of the EEF1G gene, which encodes the gamma subunit of the eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 complex. As a pseudogene, EEF1GP5 does not encode a functional protein. It is one of several processed pseudogenes in the human genome derived from EEF1G. The pseudogene itself is not well characterized, has not been directly implicated in any biological pathway or disease, and there is no evidence suggesting it encodes regulatory RNAs or peptides with functional roles. It has been mentioned in gene expression datasets on certain cancer cell lines, but its significance in these contexts remains unknown. EEF1GP5 is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or functional molecular entity relevant for pharmacology or disease modulation.
