Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 1A domain-containing protein (EIF1AD) is a predicted RNA-binding protein involved in translation initiation and possibly ribosome biogenesis[1][3][5][6]. Structure and sequence analyses demonstrate that EIF1AD shares several conserved features with its paralog EIF1A, notably in regions implicated in ribosome binding, suggesting a role in these fundamental processes[1][3]. It is located in the cytosol and nucleoplasm and is implicated in cellular response to oxidative stress and decreasing cell proliferation[6][5]. Its functions are not fully elucidated, and while it has been studied as a potential protein interaction node, especially in relation to ribosomal biology, it is not currently considered an established therapeutic target[1]. Disease association includes Nestor-Guillermo progeria syndrome; however, its role in broader pathologies or as a drug target remains unclear[5].
