Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 1A X-linked pseudogene 2 (EIF1AXP2) is a non-coding pseudogene resembling the functional gene EIF1AX. Unlike the protein-coding EIF1AX, which encodes an essential translation initiation factor involved in mRNA scanning and start codon recognition by the ribosome, EIF1AXP2 does not produce a functional protein product. Pseudogenes like EIF1AXP2 may result from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and typically lack regulatory elements or suffer disabling mutations, rendering them non-functional. There is no evidence for a role in disease, biomarker status, or interaction with therapeutic agents[4][6].
