EIF2S2P6 is a human pseudogene related to the gene encoding the beta subunit of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 (eIF2β)[2][5]. The canonical EIF2S2 gene encodes a protein involved in the initiation of protein synthesis by regulating guanine nucleotide exchange in the eIF2 complex[1], but EIF2S2P6 does not code for a functional protein. Pseudogenes like EIF2S2P6 typically do not produce active proteins; however, some pseudogenes can have regulatory functions at the RNA level, such as sequestering microRNAs or affecting the expression of their parental gene through non-coding RNA effects in certain contexts[8]. There is currently no evidence that EIF2S2P6 itself has such roles or clinical significance. In summary, EIF2S2P6 is not a canonical protein target, but a pseudogene with no established biological or therapeutic function.
