Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit E pseudogene 1 (EIF3EP1) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome. Unlike its protein-coding counterpart EIF3E, which encodes a functional subunit of the translation initiation factor eIF3 complex involved in protein synthesis and cellular proliferation, EIF3EP1 does not encode a functional protein. As a pseudogene, EIF3EP1 lacks known physiological roles, disease associations, or involvement as a therapeutic target, and it is not known to participate in regulatory, signaling, or drug interaction pathways[7].
