Target
EIF3FP2
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA locus (when transcribed)

Overview

Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit F pseudogene 2 (EIF3FP2, ENSG00000279081) is a genomic DNA segment highly homologous to the functional gene encoding eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit F (EIF3F), but due to mutations or disruptions (frameshifts, premature stop codons), it does not produce a functional protein product[2][6]. Pseudogenes may be transcribed as non-coding RNAs, which in rare cases might act as regulatory molecules (e.g., competing endogenous RNAs), but for EIF3FP2 specifically, no clear biological or disease role has been established[4]. Pseudogenes can sometimes complicate molecular genetic analyses due to similarity to their parent genes[6]. This locus is not considered a therapeutic target and has no documented direct interaction with drugs or known safety issues.
