Overview

Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit K pseudogene 3 (EIF3KP3) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome, thought to be derived from the functional EIF3K gene by retrotransposition[1]. Pseudogenes like EIF3KP3 usually lack protein-coding capacity and are not involved directly in cellular biochemical pathways. There is no evidence that EIF3KP3 plays a role in translation initiation, cellular signaling, disease, or as a drug target. While some pseudogenes have regulatory functions or have been linked to disease, no such role has been documented for EIF3KP3 to date[1][3]. EIF3KP3 is a pseudogene with no known function or direct implication as a disease gene or therapeutic target. It should not be confused with the functional EIF3K subunit, which is part of the multi-protein eIF3 complex involved in translation initiation[1][2][4][5]. The designation "receptor" or "target" does not apply in this case, and its use as a molecular target is incorrect.
