Overview

Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit L pseudogene 1 (EIF3LP1) is a pseudogene related to the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 complex, particularly subunit L (EIF3L). While the protein-coding eIF3L is a component of the eIF3 multi-subunit complex—which plays a central role in the initiation of eukaryotic translation and is implicated in processes such as cancer, cell growth, and protein synthesis—EIF3LP1 itself does not encode a functional protein and is not a druggable target. There is no reported literature indicating a functional, regulatory, or disease-associated non-coding RNA role for this pseudogene. Thus, EIF3LP1 is not relevant as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or mechanism of drug action. If you intended to refer to the functional protein eIF3L (rather than the pseudogene EIF3LP1), information would differ significantly: it would then describe an active translation initiation factor involved in mRNA processing, ribosomal binding, and potentially implicated in disease processes including cancer. For EIF3LP1, however, all evidence supports classification solely as a non-target pseudogene.
