Overview

EIF4A1P1 is a pseudogene—an inactive genetic segment that arose from the Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4A1 (EIF4A1) gene[3]. Unlike its parental gene EIF4A1, which encodes a DEAD-box RNA helicase crucial for unwinding mRNA during ribosome recruitment and translation initiation[1][5], the pseudogene does not produce a functional protein and has no known biological or pathological functions. Although some pseudogenes can occasionally play regulatory roles via non-coding RNA-mediated mechanisms[4], there is no evidence that EIF4A1P1 has such a function. It is not considered a therapeutic target, nor is it used in biomarker assays or known to interact with any drugs[3].
