Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4A1 pseudogene 8 (EIF4A1P8) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome, mapped to chromosome 3q27.1[2][4]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are nonfunctional; they generally do not encode active proteins, lacking biological or pharmacological activity[1][2]. Unlike its parent gene, EIF4A1 (which encodes a functional ATP-dependent RNA helicase involved in translation initiation), EIF4A1P8 is not known to produce a protein product nor to possess any characterized biological function or clinical relevance at present[1][2][4]. There are no known disease associations, drug interactions, or biomarker uses for this pseudogene, nor is it recognized as a therapeutic target.
