Overview

Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4A2 pseudogene 2 (EIF4A2P2) is a noncoding pseudogene that shares sequence homology with the EIF4A2 gene, which encodes an ATP-dependent RNA helicase subunit of the eIF4F complex involved in translation initiation. Unlike its parent gene, EIF4A2P2 lacks a functional open reading frame and is not translated into a protein[4][5][8][10]. Pseudogenes in general may arise through genome duplications or retrotransposition events and are typically nonfunctional by virtue of disruptions such as frameshifts, premature stop codons, or missing regulatory elements[10]. There are no reported biological activities, drug interactions, or disease implications directly associated with EIF4A2P2. EIF4A2P2 is a pseudogene, not an active protein coding gene[4][5][8][10]. It should not be considered a therapeutic or drug target, nor does it play a known role in human disease. If selected as a target for therapeutic intervention, this would be scientifically incorrect due to its pseudogene status[10]. The information available is limited due to the nature of pseudogenes, which are often not thoroughly studied unless they acquire regulatory roles or associations with human disease, which is not the case for EIF4A2P2.
