Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4A3 pseudogene 1 (EIF4A3P1)

Target
EIF4A3P1
Molecular classification
Other, Pseudogene
01

Overview

Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4A3 pseudogene 1 (EIF4A3P1) is classified as a pseudogene. Pseudogenes arise from functional genes through duplication or retrotransposition events but generally lose their coding potential due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements. EIF4A3P1 shares sequence homology with the functional gene EIF4A3, which encodes an ATP-dependent RNA helicase involved in mRNA splicing and the exon junction complex. However, EIF4A3P1 does not produce a functional protein and has no established biological or therapeutic roles[2]. While some pseudogenes exert regulatory influences or serve as non-coding RNAs, there is currently no reported function or disease association for EIF4A3P1.
