EIF4B itself is a translation initiation factor involved in recruiting mRNA to the ribosome and facilitating translation initiation. However, the "pseudogene 5" indicates that EIF4BP5 is a non-coding DNA element that does not produce a functional protein and, therefore, is not a therapeutic target. There is no evidence, as found in major gene/protein databases or the scientific literature, that EIF4BP5 encodes a functional protein, has a known biological function, disease role, or interacts with any drug.
