Target
EIF4EBP2P2
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Processed retrocopy of a protein-coding gene
01

Overview

Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E binding protein 2 pseudogene 2 (EIF4EBP2P2) is classified as a processed pseudogene, generated as a retrocopy of the parent coding gene EIF4EBP2[3][4][8]. Pseudogenes like EIF4EBP2P2 typically do not produce functional proteins and lack gene regulatory elements required for expression. While some pseudogenes have been described to participate in genetic and epigenetic regulation and may produce regulatory noncoding RNAs, there is no specific evidence that EIF4EBP2P2 plays a functional biological role or contributes to disease. Pseudogenes are generally not considered therapeutic targets and are not known to interact with drugs or serve directly as biomarkers. This pseudogene may be used in genomic studies to understand evolutionary relationships and gene annotation challenges[3][4][8].
