Overview

Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E pseudogene 1 (EIF4EP1, also known as dJ1022P6.3) is a genomic locus designated as a pseudogene related to the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E family. There is incomplete or missing functional and experimental evidence that EIF4EP1 is a protein-coding gene, biologically active molecule, or recognized drug target. Based on current data, EIF4EP1 is not considered a canonical therapeutic target. Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E pseudogene 1 is a pseudogene related to the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (EIF4E) gene family, which is known for its role in 5′ mRNA cap recognition during protein synthesis initiation. However, unlike functional EIF4E proteins, EIF4EP1 is a pseudogene, meaning it does not produce a functional product and lacks biological activity as a canonical molecular target[3][4]. There are no current data supporting a role for EIF4EP1 in normal physiology, disease, or as a druggable target.
