Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4H pseudogene 1 (EIF4HP1) is a processed pseudogene related to the functional gene EIF4H, which encodes a protein involved in the initiation step of protein translation. Like most pseudogenes, EIF4HP1 is generally thought to be non-coding, not producing a functional protein, and is not well-characterized in the literature. Pseudogenes can sometimes produce non-coding RNAs that have regulatory roles influencing their parental gene or broader gene expression networks, but there is no specific functional evidence for EIF4HP1.
